Warner Finally Decides to Mine it’s Comic Properties

dc comics superheroes movies

If there was a competition between Marvel and DC in the movie world, it would seem that Marvel is winning. Marvel has gone from licensing out it’s superheroes (X-Men, Spider-Man) to producing their own films such as Iron Man and Hulk. For Marvel fans it is a great time to be in, but DC’s superheroes other than Superman and Batman haven’t had their time to shine. This may change as now the trades are reporting on a superhero DC meeting Warner Brothers will soon be having to try and capitalize on properties that dive into the DC Universe.

While DC’s senior VP of creative affairs Gregory Noveck pegs Warners toppers Jeff Robinov and Alan Horn as “the ultimate decisionmakers,” they’re the decisionmakers for pretty much everything at the studio, and neither is in a position to dive into active development of the DC universe.

The studio is keeping details of its meetings under wraps, but issued a statement saying, in part, “We’re constantly looking at how best to exploit the DC Comics characters and properties.”

This is great news. I hope we don’t get the Junior League of America anymore. Now maybe we can actually get a Batman/Superman movie. Maybe a Flash movie or Green Lantern. But the one thing I really want is a Lex Luthor that isn’t a mad genius Land Lord. I hate that Lex Luthor.
