It looks like a retraction and apologies are in order. It was believed and promoted in several posts that Hillary Swank would appear in the Iron Man movie but it the woman in Caesar’s Palace is actually Stacy Stas.

It all started when I was reading the forums on the Internet Movie Database and discovered what looked to be a couple scoops regarding an appearance of Hillary Swank on the set of Iron Man. This was seemingly confirmed on Jon Favreau’s MySpace blog. (June 26, 07)

Then in an interview with MTV Avi Arad shocked by the line of questioning confirms that Hillary Swank has a cameo in Iron Man. (July 23, 07)

Most recently was the release of a photo of what appeared to be Hillary Swank in Caesar’s Palace. I even got a second opinion of the photo from my wife (who reads those gossip magazines) before reporting on the photo. (April 2001, 08)

Last Friday I went to see Iron Man. The film opened with the scene shown in the photo. Right away I had second thoughts on if this was indeed Hillary Swank. The appearance blew by like an extra casting, not a cameo. Was it her? She kind of looks smaller and curvier. I went on to enjoy the movie and tried not to think about it.

The weekend went by and it is now Monday morning. I decided to check out IMDB and see if anything had been changed, if she was still credited with being in the film. Sure enough Iron Man was removed from her filmography. I checked out their forum and someone had posted who was really in that scene. It was really Stacy Stas and as you can see, her resemblance to Swank is uncanny.

I’m interested as to what Avi Arad and Jon Favreau have to say about all this. Was it a stunt to get some net buzz? Was Favreau reading sites like The Braxcave chuckling as to how we fell for it?
