The Latino review has posted early reports that Larry Hama, the master mind behind the 1980’s G.I. Joe been hired for the G.I. Joe movie.
This is fantastic news. Likely Hama has been hired on as a creative consultant. With out Hama G.I. Joe would not be as we know it today.
In the early 80’s Hasbro saw the success of the Star Wars action figures andwanted to relaunch the G.I. Joe toy line. For help, they went to Marvel. Larry Hama had already made a pitch to Marvel for a Nick Fury spin off series and this pitch then became the back story for the new G.i. Joe and Cobra characters. Hama then went on to write and draw the Joe comic as well as write the “file cards” for the toy packaging.
Hama’s likeness was even used for the Joe character Tunnel Rat.
Maybe instead of being creative consultant he is really appearing as Tunnel Rat.
