According to Ain’t It Cool News and Latino Review, Channing Tatum will be playing Duke in G.I. Joe.

The talkbacks from AICN  are showing a lot of resistance to this casting choice. Sadly, it reads a lot of “gay” this and “gay” that. A shame that grown adults behave that way (assuming they are adults because G.I. Joe hasn’t really been making new fans since the 80’s), especially since much of the show celebrated diversity. As an 80’s child myself, it’s embarrassing to see that many of my generation have turned into the homophobic type.

Granted the casting may deserve criticism, but tossing around claims of “gayness” is childish and ignorant. Yeah, he’s a model. So are many successful actors, like earlier rumored Duke, Mark Wahlberg. Maybe it is his performance in Stop Loss and Battle in Seattle that helped him land the role.
