Heath Ledger Found Dead!

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 @ 4:38 pm

Some very tragic news has come from New York City. Heath Ledger, The Joker in the upcoming Batman movie, has been found dead in a Soho apartment.

Ledger was pronounced dead at 3:30pm. Details are few at this time but it is possible that he had died from an overdose of prescription drugs. Ledger is survived by his 2-year-old daughter Matilda Rose, and ex-wife Michelle Williams.

When I first read the headline of Ledger’s death I thought I was going to be reading about the latest viral marketing for The Dark Knight. The news is so shocking it takes time for the mind to take it in and believe it.

Certainly fans anticipating TDK will be curious if this will effect the movie. Principal filming is complete however Ledger was filming another movie at the time, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

In a way I feel bad because if he wasn’t the Joker his passing wouldn’t of had much of an impact on me. But blogging about him and TDK has made me feel closer to him in a strange way.

After seeing the movie I’m not surprised he did himself in. He’s an amazing actor and throws himself into his roles. It makes sense that after being so insane in this role, that he’d end up being a bit insane in real life, even after being a bit insane to begin with.

This obviously had a huge impact on the opening weekend. Not only did the theaters get the hard core batman fans, they also got the curious onlookers looking to see what his last role was like.
