The running net rumor that Iron Man will be in the Hulk movie has been confirmed by actor, William Hurt.
Hurt will be playing the part of General Ross. For those not familiar with the character, Ross is the Hulk’s Captain Ahab. William Hurt has stated in a recent interview with MTV that he has a scene with Tony Stark aka Iron Man who will be played by Robert Downey Jr.
“I have a scene with Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr.,” the Oscar-winning actor told MTV News Friday at the Sundance Film Festival. “It’s a funky scene.
“I don’t know how it’ll work,” Hurt admitted, saying it was a thrill to appear as General Thaddeus Ross during Downey’s scene. “I know it’s weird [to work with a character from another movie], and to know it’s a device. We did something; I don’t know what that’s going to be like [to watch].”
Iron Man hits theaters May 2nd and is followed by The Incredible Hulk in June. Marvel’s big idea is to create several superhero movies leading up to an Avengers Movie in 2011.

So, does this lend credence to the idea that after the release of the remaining independent Avenger character movies we’ll see a full on Avengers movie? Say, around 2020?

Absolutely! For what I know we are looking at 2011 for The Avengers.
This recent posting is a good index of links supporting that.
