Wizard Entertainment Fires Editorial Director and Other Top Staff.

Wizard Entertainment seems to be clearing out all it’s employees and have even canceled magazines. The latest person to be let go is Mel Caylo.

Rick Marshall, former WizardUniverse.com Editor, reported yesterday on the Wizard Universe Membership Board that Mel Caylo has been “let go.”
Caylo was part of the Wizard Entertainment Editorial team, the Editorial Director.

Marshall was also let go two weeks ago. Others no longer employed by Wizard are Sean T. Collins, Ben Morse, and E-I-C Pat McCallum who was with Wizard from the start. Many other employees have resigned and have taken positions at Marvel and DC.

The Wizard forum has also received several complaints about viruses and connection issues.
Rick Marshal’s account on the WUMB was deleted along with some of his posts. Even after he was fired and the forum would crash he was the only one who could get it back online again.

This could be the end of the Wizard Universe Message Board and it looks like a scary path that may lead to the end of Wizard Entertainment.
My only guess is that sales have dropped to they are cutting people. This is what happened with McCallum.
In a new world where information travels instantly over the internet can a magazine such as Wizard even last? They just cut their online people and possibly their online presence.

Brian Cunningham, Executive Editor has commented on the future of the Wizard Universe Message Boards. He assures members that the boards are here to stay,

We’re not going anywhere. And I’m not saying that with a gun to my head, as it’s been alluded to on the boards.

The fact that Wizard can contact it’s fans through it’s message board is a huge asset. I sincerely hope for the sake of the whole comic community that the WUMB remains online.
