Chatwin and Marsters to Star in Dragonball Z!

Some very awesome news has been announced for the live action Dragonball Z movie. James Marsters will be playing Piccolo and Justin Chatwin will be playing Goku.
I don’t think anyone out there screams “Goku” but Marsters as Piccolo is awesome. Even better is knowing that Stephen Chow is producing the film. The day I watched Kung Fu Hustle I knew he would be awesome to direct DBZ, so having him attached makes me very happy. James Wong is writing and directing Dragonball Z.
Shooting begins later this month and is aiming for release on August 18th.

Wow this is actually happening, I actually like both these actors so Im happy. Is there any word on what the plots going to be or if its going to be a continuation of the show.

Likely because it is only a movie and not an epic ongoing saga they will tell their own version of Dragonball Z. Piccolo is going to be the villain so I’m guessing they will try to condense what happened pre-DBZ into a story.

I don’t know about the idea of a Dragonball Z movie. DBZ seems too big to be anything but a cartoon.
Plus, there’s something about anime that just can’t make it to live action properly. You know, the Big eyes and weird mouth movements. Then there’s that strange tear that pops up randomly. Anyway, rant over.

The way thing are looking now, the movie will have very little to do with the original material.
