NBC Universal has announced that pilot episodes from the new NBC fall line up will be available for free on Amazon’s Unbox digital download service. Pilots of “Chuck” and “Bionic Woman” will be available September 10th, free of charge.

Last week NBC Universal failed to reach an agreement with Apple Inc. to have NBC programing available on iTunes. Instead NBC programs like “Heroes” and “The Office” will be available for $1.99 on Unbox.

This seems confusing because NBC wanted to raise it’s price per episode to $4.99 on iTunes. Apple Inc. was unwilling to raise the price of their $1.99 episodes. Maybe Unbox will allow them to raise the price at a later date.

There is still a chance that NBC will stay with iTunes, their contract doesn’t expire until December.  NBC is also preparing to launch an online video portal with News Corp called Hulu.com that will feature its film and television clips.
