Sometimes it’s funny what will get me an excited for a movie. Today I’m officially looking forwards to the next Punisher Movie over a simple name change.

Up until now the 2004 Punisher movie was going under “Punisher: Welcome Back Frank.” That title made little sence to the comic fan. The last Punisher movie starring Tom Jane was based on a graphic novel named… Welcome Back Frank. In other words the sequel to Welcome Back Frank would be called Welcome Back Frank. Not that this meant the movie would suck, but it certainly shown that the film makers we not familiar with the subject.

Now, the title will be Punisher: War Zone!

With a name like War Zone this is not just a title but it’s a description. Now we just need Lexi Alexander and Ray Stevenson to deliver.

“War Zone” is the name of a Punisher comic that ran from 1992 to 1995. A scene in the ‘08 Punisher movie was take from the War Zone Comic. This was the scene where Frank had the criminal chained to the ceiling and tricked him into thinking he had a blow torch roasting his back.

This series took place in an era where Frank had an accomplice named “Microchip” who was something of a “Q” for the Punisher.
