Skrullocaust?
Saturday, January 13th, 2007 @ 9:21 pm

Recently the Civil War Page on Wikipedia has been seeing some strange edits referring to the next big Marvel event. The edit claimed that the main “pro-registration” characters were actually Skrulls in disguise.
Skrullocaust
In January 2006, Joe Quesada outlined some details of the Marvel Universe’s post-Civil War future in an interview with Newsarama.com:“JQ: The heroes will be dealing with Total Skrull Infiltration. For skrulls to assume the identities of Tony Stark, Reed Richards, for them to start this whole Civil War–well, it’s a sneak attack. It’s Pearl Harbor. It’s 9/11. Needless to say, Cap and the gang are feeling pretty steamed–to say nothing of the real Tony and Reed!
NRAMA: Steamed enough to wipe out an entire alien race?
JQ: You’ll see inklings in the first pages of Skrull Hunt #1 of just how far these guys will go to protect their freedoms! I can tell you there’s at least one Secret Avenger already feeling full-on Dachau.”
Skrullocaust is a Marvel Comics summer 2007, winter 2008 crossover event based around a core limited series of the same name written by Mark Millar. It depicts the Marvel Universe in post-Civil War turmoil and deals mainly with solving the “Skrull Problem.” The series will be preceded by the “Road to Skrullocaust,” encompassing the limited series Skrull Hunt and Penance vs Dracula. The ultimate goal is the relaunch of Skrull Kill Krew #1 in 12 variant covers, ushering in what some are already calling “The Mighty Millar Age of Comics.”
This is a hoax and has been deleted several times and ended up with the blocking of the user named Max Keeble. There was never any such posting on Newsarama.com.
As a Sysop of tinwiki.org I can really relate to having to deal with vandals.
One has to wonder what Max Keeble’s motivation was. He repeatedly put up the deleted “Skrullocaust” information until he was finally banned. Max Keeble made no other edits. His only reason to be on Wikipedia was to post “Skrullocaust.”
Was he just a simple troll or was he on someone’s payroll?
What if he was hired to place the false information in hopes that fans would grow angry towards Marvel?
What if it was something worse?
What if it was Marvel testing the waters to see if fans would accept such a thing? Many fans are angry with some of the events of Civil War and they may be looking for ways to reverse things.
This would be a really bad call by Marvel if this was true. Having a Marvel event with a name like that paralleling humanities worst time in history is really distasteful. However Marvel made this mistake before. In the 90’s a X-Men villain named Holocaust was created. After pressure by Jewish groups Marvel later renamed the character Nemesis.
Hopefully Marvel learned from that experience and this was not some kind of test on comic fans.
Most likely the simple answer is the correct one. Odds are Max Keeble was just some kid with too much time on their hands and dove into trolldom.

intresting. But yeah it sounds fake,I dont think anyone would go on record revealing the plot like that or say something stupid like “It’s Pearl Harbor. It’s 9/11. Needless to say, Cap and the gang are feeling pretty steamed–to say nothing of the real Tony and Reed!”

Quite obviously an ealborate Hoax.
1) No one would be so distasteful as to pardoy the Holocaust;
2) If Tony & Reed were Skrulls, then the Real TOny & Reed killing lots of Skrulls as revenge wouldn’t change anything at all…they’d just be worse.
3) ‘Road to Skrullocaust’ and ‘Penance vs Dracula’. This is imply Keeble taking previous titles and inserting different words in them - the originals being ‘Apocalypse vs Dracula’ & ‘Road to Civil War’. Marvel would never do that, purely because it looks stupid.
4) You don’t use the same writer on two ‘Events’ in a row.
5) The actual annoucnement seems rushed; Relaunch of Skrull Kill Krew (who?) ‘In twelve variant covers’ - so, what, they’d just print covers?
6) I may not know Joe Q, but he would NEVER let a character be described as ‘Totally Dachau’.
