Remembering 90’s Cartoons.

Friday, December 1st, 2006 @ 1:59 am

The 90’s brought about a new era of action cartoons. It was very different from the cartoons of the 80’s. Most of the American television networks dropped having Saturday morning Cartoons. NBC lead this change. Instead of cartoons every Saturday morning, they ran shows like Saved by the Bell.
The Saturday morning cartoon was dead. But the after school cartoon boomed. Super heroes hit the screen like never before. This started the super hero revolution that continues today on the big screen.
The youth of the 90’s watched these cartoons based on comic book super heroes. Then they bought the videogames of the same heroes. Now they are adults and are putting out the big bucks to see these heroes in the movies.

Now take a trip back into time and watch the openings of these 90’s cartoons.
In no particular order here are 10 of the 90’s greatest action cartoons.

X-Men

Gargoyles

Freakazoid

Iron Man

Earthworm Jim

Batman

Spider-Man

The Tick

Fantastic Four

Superman

So now that your memory has been refreshed, which of the above 90’s super hero cartoons was your favorite?

Back in the days most of these ‘toons was shown on the South African pay channel (which my dad refused to get), thus I have this “big empty hole” in my entertainment education. I did however see each and every single episode of Batman. Batman rocks. Well, the ‘toon did, anyway.

PS - I think there’s something wrong with the Poll, ’cause I’ve voted (twice) for Batman, and every time Superman gets the vote. I think the voting station is rigged. ;-)

I just took a look at the voting results so far.
Superman has 0% of the votes. So it looks like you vote actually made it to Batman.

What’s wrong with Pinky and the Brain? How about the Animanics? They will always be superheros in my book!

    I loved Animaniacs!
