New Preacher TV Series!

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006 @ 12:15 pm

A movie based on Preacher has been the buzz for a long time now. It seemed a sure thing when it was reported that James Marsden was going to play Jesse Custer.
While a movie would have been nice, this news is even better.
Preacher is now going to be a one-hour series on HBO.

Preacher was a comic by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon. The book ran from 1995-2000 under the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics.
The story stared Jesse Custer who was a small town reverend that became fused with a powerful entity named Genesis. This gave Custer the power to order people to do whatever he commanded.
Custer accompanied by his gun-slinging girlfriend, and a hard-drinking Irish vampire set out on a journey of revenge.

The HBO series has Mark Steven Johnson writing the pilot, while Howard Deutch is attached to direct.

An HBO series is way better for Preacher instead of a 90 minute movie. This will allow the great storey telling and character development that made the comic so great.
Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon will be co-executive producers for the show, so you know this series will do the comic justice.
