Comic artist Legend Dave Cockrum passed away in his sleep this morning due to complications from diabetes

Dave Cockrum was a comic artist who may be best known for his work with Marvel for co-creating the “All-New, All-Different X-Men.” He created the designs for Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus and even “accentually” changed the look of Wolverine forever.
Cockrum was also well known for his work on DC’s The Legion of Super-Heroes.

In 2004 he became seriously ill due to complications from diabetes and pneumonia. Fellow artists and writers organized an auction that ran at the WizardWorld Chicago show in August ‘04. It raised nearly $25,000. Marvel also announced it would compensate Cockrum for his work in co-creating the enormously successful X-Men.

Today Clifford Meth announced Cockrum’s death on Nightscrawlers.com.
