The past ten years have been an exciting time for comic fans. We’ve seen some of our favorite characters on the big screen. Movies based on Spider-Man and X-Men are no-brainers. Comic movies have only scratched the surface. There are literally hundreds of comic book characters that will translate into exciting movie blockbusters.
Today Marvel Entertainment has released its Q3 2006 Earnings which includes an updated list of upcoming projects for Marvel Studios.
Here is a break down of what we have to look forward to.
Spider-Man 3 (May 4, 2007)

Director: Sam Raimi
Staring: Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man), Thomas Haden Church (Sandman), Topher Grace (Venom).
SM3 really needs no introduction. The first two movies were hits and SM3 is one of the most anticipated movies of ’07.

FF2 set photos have revealed a new look for the Thing. Fans disliked his look in the first movies so for FF2 Thing will have a larger brow that is closer to the comic book version. Doug Jones will be model for the CGI Silver Surfer in a similar technique that brought Golum to life in Lord of the Rings.

Jon Favreau has been doing his best to listen to comic fans. He has a MySpace page that goes out right and asks fans what they want to see in this movie. The casting of Downey Jr. is over all well received by fans but also has many scratching their heads.

Ant-Man (2009)

Director: Edgar Wright
Staring: TBA
With “Shaun of the Dead” director, Edgar Wright attached to the film you know this movie is going to rock. For those not familiar with Ant-Man, He is Dr. Hank Pym who has created a way to shrink himself and communicate with insects. Ant-Man is one of the original Avengers.
Captain America (2009)

Director: TBA
Staring: TBA
Not much is know about this film at this time other than David S. Goyer (Batman Begins,Blade Trilogy) is attached for writing.
Nick Fury (2010)

Staring: TBA
Samuel L. Jackson to Play Nick Fury?
Thor (2010)

The Avengers (2011)

Director: TBA

One question everyone is asking, which Avengers will be in this movie. The original Comic Book line up was made up of Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Ant-man, and Wasp (Captain America joined later). Can Marvel Studios produce this lineup using the cans from the above movies? It does seem as though it may be planed that way. But is it economical?
Namor (TBA)

Personally I can see myself watching movies like Thor, Nick Fury (4 years huh?), Captain America, Ant Man and definitely Wolverine (Only by 2008?) but no interest in Spiderman 3, Punisher 2, (another) Hulk or Magneto… But that’s just me. I suppose some big fans (geeks?
) are excited beyond help, though? *** CoughUmbraxCough ***

Well I’m not excited for all these movies. lol
The Magneto movie I have no interest in what-so-ever.
With Ant-Man I really don’t care for the character but I’m very interested in Edgar Wright’s take on him.
I’m looking forward to Wolverine. They have a script already, which is record timing for the X-films, and I’ll take that a good omen.
Avengers I’m a bit worried about because they may end up using second tier characters and not the big guns like Captain America and Thor.
I’m still undecided on Iron Man.
In the end I’m sure all (or at least most) of these movies will end up in my DVD collection.
