Go Speed Racer Go! Wachowski Bros. to Helm “Speed Racer” for Warner Bros.

It has been announced that the popular manga/anime Speed Racer (Mach Go Go Go in Japan) will be seen in live action and on the big screen in 2008.
Larry and Andy Wachowski are writing and directing and will be teaming up once again with producer Joel Silver.
The production will begin this summer in Europe and Warner Bros. will be releasing the film during 2008’s blockbuster summer season.
If you are not familiar with Speed Racer or you are looking for a bit of nostalgia here is the opening sequence to the Speed Racer cartoon.
Speed Racer like most (all) anime has seen a lot of censorship in it’s American version.
In 2002 Nickelodeon aired a revised (and short lived) version called Speed Racer X.

No way ! Speed Racer ? I remember the Cartoon ! It’s going to suck as a movie. I hated that stupid monkey chim chim. And, the dialogue was so stupid even for a cartoon. Muscle cars were popular back then but now ? Even a gadget-laden car that can hop around the place like a Low-rider on steroids won’t be appealing to most adults or recommended to a younger audience. I won’t let my child watch a racing movie, to think a fast gas guzzling car is cool. No way. So alpha-male mentality and senseless for the 21st century. Shouldn’t we be creating movies that aspire to something “better” besides car Racing ?! Oh Wachowski Brothers, what happened ? Running out of good ideas ? Where is that movie,”The Axis” or was it, “DreamScapesAxis” that is supposedly a secret project in development;

Speed racer Rocks! As a kid growing up, It was the best thing ever on TV!! I can’t wait for the BIG SCREEN! GO SPEED GO!
