Pond Critters.
Friday, June 23rd, 2006 @ 1:23 pm
Yesterday my family and I went to a nearby park. We have been getting a lot of rain lately and the water level has only just started to drop. The park has a pretty big pons that is a run off from the cities storm drain.
This is a video of one of the many puddles left from the raised water level.
These puddles were full of life. I believe that these are beetle larvae.
We also had seen leaches in the pond.
In the city I live there are laws that require all dogs to be on leashes except for designated “off leash” areas. The park where went to did have one area that was “off leash,” but there was quite a few dog owners allowing their dogs to run free out side of this area.
One soaking wet golden lab runs up to us while the owner is yelling “its okay, He is friendly!”
So?
What if my kids (who are 3 and 6) are afraid of dogs? What if we don’t want a wet dog around us? It wasn’t that big of a deal but the leash law is made for a reason. To protect the dog and to protect the people around the dog.
The dog was soaking wet. Meaning that it was swimming in the water with the leaches.
This woman had no consideration for other people or even a clue that she was placing her dog in danger.
Sorry to go into rant mode. This is just a pet peeve of mine. LoL
