Tamagotchi

Last week I picked up my 6 year old daughter a Tamagotchi.
it is like having another kid around lol.

It said on the package for ages 8 and up, but her friends have one and I seen them at the mall and picked one up for her.

If you don’t know what this thing is, it is basically a virtual pet. You feed it. You send it to the toilet. You play games with it and you get it “stuff.”
This is all done on a tiny videogame type interface with a key ring on it so you can carry it everywhere. And they do carry it everywhere.
The thing beeps when it wants something and it beeps all the time unless you put it on pause.

Her first Tamagotchi pet died because I didn’t get how to tell if it was hungry. No big deal, you just reset it and start over.

The thing is because the game is intended for children 8 and up and she is only 6. This means I have to help her with a few things on there. She is fine to feed it and sending it to the washroom. But the mini games on there are too difficult for her. So I play the games to earn her points. I don’t mind really. It is fun to play this game with her.
With the points she can buy items for her pet. I have to help her with that too.
It is good that she needs help with the game. This way she doesn’t know how to paus/unpause. That means I control when she plays it and when she doesn’t.

If your kid wants one of these, beware.
A Tamagotchi pet requires as much time and attention as a real one.
